Professor & Head of Department
Biography

Professor of Laser Photonics and Modern Optics. His field of research interests are the design of new types of laser sources operating at NIR and MIR bands like diode pumped high-power solid-state laser (DPSS), and diode pumped high power fiber lasers (DPFL) and their military applications as well as lasers in electrical & communication systems, medicine, optical imaging, hyper-spectral Imaging, laser induced photoemission, photo-thermal and photo-acoustic diagnosis of human diseases. Experiences: Professor Doctor Ashraf has achieved his PhD degree in laser photonics and modern optics, from Laser Photonics Research Group, University of Manchester, UK, in 2003. He has achieved an “Associate Professor” title in High power laser technology and their applications in October 2009, and he was a lecturer and faculty member within Engineering Physics Department, Military Technical College (MTC), Cairo, Egypt up to 2018. He was a Visiting Professor in Townes Laser Institute, CREOL College of Optics and Photonics, University of Central Florida, Orlando, USA, from September 2012 to April 2013 in the field of Mega-Watt High Power Fiber Laser and its applications in Material Processing and Laser Remote Sensing. He has achieved a “Professor Doctor” title in High Power Laser Photonics and its Applications in February 2015. He was the Head of the Laser Technology Center as well as the Chairman of Engineering Physics Department Scientific Council, MTC, Cairo Egypt until 2016. He was the Head of Research Branch Affairs, MTC, Cairo, Egypt until 2018. He was affiliated as a Dean of the Egyptian Naval College, Alexandria, Egypt until December 2020, and worked as the Head of Naval Research Division, Egyptian Naval Forces, Alexandria, Egypt up to December 2021. He was Chancellor of the President of May University in Cairo (MUC) for enhancing the Academic and Research program until June 2022. Head of Electrical Power and Machines Department, and Professor Doctor within Electronic & Communication Department, Misr University for Science and Technology (MUST) since 1st September 2022 up to August 2023. Head of Basic Science Department, Professor of Laser Photonics and Modern Optics, Faculty of Engineering, Ahram Canadian University (ACU), 6th October, Giza, Egypt since October 2023 up to Date. Skills: During professional scientific and administrative life as a member of highly disciplined teamwork, that respects our commitments and ethics. We have acquired a lot of fine skills, in solving critical administrative problems in a short time under severe pressure in high secrecy, as well as strategic planning skills that respect legal responsibility. Our creative skills and valuable expertise in weaponry systems design, photonics, electron instrumentation, laser system integration, electrical and biomedical engineering systems and critical operation planning and training enabled my innovative leadership in the field of academic and research management.
